SADD Club

SADD stands for Students Against Destructive Decisions.  It is a club designed to help teens deal with the issues that surround them.  The club provides a group setting that is very open for discussions.  We have a mission to motivate and resist the combination of destructive decisions, especially drinking and driving, by informing those around us that such decisions can seriously endanger our lives and others.

Some goals we have for our club are to teach students about the consequences and harmful effects of drinking and driving, drugs, and violence.  We also try to encourage our members to help others make constructive decisions, while saying “no” themselves.  Our final goal is to help save lives by giving teens the proper information and facts about destructive decisions
Our club has three main events: Red Ribbon Week, the Ladywood Auction, and the Prom.  Red Ribbon is a time when the club helps the student body recognize the effects of destructive decisions and how to resist such incidents.  The week consists of many different activities, which the club sponsors.  During the auction, we provide napkins that encourage adults to drink responsibly.  We also sponsor the coat check room.  Finally, during prom we have a “Prom Promise.”  With the “prom promise,” the club has the students attending prom sign and date a card with vouches they will choose not to drink and drive after prom.

Our club meets every 4th Tuesday of the month.  We meet at 2:15 pm in the Activity Center.  Each meeting consists of discussing future plans and then turns into an open discussion period and group activities.
