Yellow Ribbon Club

The Yellow Ribbon Club program has been active within Ladywood High School since the fall of 2003.  It is a program to inform  people, especially teenagers, awareness of the prevalence of youth suicide, and finding techniques to help educate and prevent it. The goal is to educate students and staff of Ladywood High School about the warning signs of suicide, and provide them with the resources they need to help others in these situations. The biggest goal for Yellow Ribbon is to prevent teen suicide as much as possible, and to educate others to do the same. We have made pamphlets, which are available in the counseling department.  We celebrate Yellow Ribbon Week annually. Each life saved makes a difference.

The main goal of the Yellow Ribbon Club can never be achieved at one time.  It is to prevent teen suicide as much as possible and to educate others to do the same. 

Objectives:

• Educating the student body, staff members, and the community at-large with regard to the warning signs of suicide

• Providing the community at-large with the necessary resources to help others facing suicide and its after effects.

Types of Activities:

• Celebrating Yellow Ribbon Week in mid-November

• Creating a resource guide for the Ladywood staff and students to use

• Ongoing training and awareness activities

• Peer-to-Peer groups

• Walks

Membership:

Any Ladywood student from grades 9-12  Everyone is always welcome to join.  For more information, contact the school guidance office. 

Meetings:

Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month in room 1109.
